Casa Royale Palio Onda

Onda’s symbol is the dolphin, and its colors are white and sky blue—“the color of Heaven, the force of the sea.”

Known as the Contrada Capitana, Onda earned the title because its soldiers once guarded Siena’s Palazzo Pubblico. Its most famous member was sculptor Giovanni Duprè, for whom the contrada’s main street is named.

Onda is unique among Siena’s contrade in extending beyond the city walls to Talamone, the medieval seaport of the Republic of Siena, where Onda’s soldiers once stood guard.

Its allies are Nicchio, Tartuca and Valdimontone; its historic rival is Torre. Recent Palio victories include 2012, 2013, 2017 and 2024.
