Sicilian Moor's heads, also known as Teste di Moro, are ceramic vases shaped like heads that are said to be based on a legend about a forbidden love affair. The story goes that a Sicilian girl of noble birth fell in love with a young Arab man, and when her family found out, they beheaded them both as punishment. Their heads were then turned into vases and hung on a balcony as a warning.
